Live in Manila!
3pm-5pm
March 26, 2009
Ateneo, Rockwell

The world is facing its worst economic crisis since the Great Depression - and companies all over the world are laying off people and looking for ways to survive.

But one company has faced far worse challenges: wars, persecution, continuing hardship, public misconceptions about their brand, difficulties in recruiting new talent, challenges in keeping existing staff. Despite all these problems, they faced year in and year out, the company survived - and continues to survive all around the world.

On March 26, 2009, from 3pm-5pm at Ateneo, Rockwell, you can get insights on the best practices of this 450-year old company - insights that can help you lead your company, and yourself, through this crisis, and come out better and stronger. These insights will be shared by Chris Lowney, a former Jesuit who became a managing director for J.P. Morgan. Chris Lowney's unique blend of spiritual inquisitiveness, combined with management discipline, led him to write the highly-acclaimed book Heroic Leadership, which details the four core leadership pillars upon which the Jesuits achieved their enduring success.

Emerge as a Great Leader.
Leaders make great companies, but few of us truly understand how to turn ourselves and others into great leaders.
Chris Lowney, a former Jesuit and executive with J. P. Morgan, reveals the leadership principles that have guided Jesuit leaders in their diverse pursuits for more than 450 years.
Eschewing flashy techniques, Heroic Leadership focuses on the four core pillars:
· Self-awareness: Understanding your strengths, weaknesses, values, and worldview
· Ingenuity: Confidently innovating and adapting to a changing world
· Love: Engaging others with a positive attitude that unlocks their potential
· Heroism: Energizing yourself and others with heroic ambitions and a passion for excellence
The four principles address a person's whole life-personal and professional--and are rooted in the idea that we are all leaders. Lowney shows how the same principles that inspired sixteenth-century Jesuits can still mold dynamic leaders in the twenty-first century in all walks of life.

Reviews and accolades for Heroic Leadership
"Lowney does a wonderfully engaging job of making clear the connections between our current leadership challenges and the principles employed so effectively by the Jesuits."
- Edward J. Kelly III, President and CEO, Mercantile Bankshares Corp.

"As Asia surges forward, its managers are realizing that shallow leadership checklists and flashy management slogans from the West do not always work. Heroic Leadership sets out four key principles of whole-person leadership that . . . can be applied across cultures and geographies. . . . [A]n enlightening reference for those seeking to unlock leadership potential in themselves and in others."
- Jackson Tai, Chief Executive Officer, Development Bank of Singapore

"This 450-year-old institution [seems] as current today as it was four centuries ago. Lowney shows us how every employee can and should be a leader and that love-driven leadership does work."
- Richard K. Green, President and COO, Blistex, Inc.

Who is Chris Lowney?
Chris Lowney is unique among business speakers. He was a former managing director of J.P. Morgan-but the only training he had before he entered the corporate world was as a Jesuit.
In his book Heroic Leadership, Chris talks about the insights you can get from an order that was founded in 1540 by ten men with no capital and no business plan. Surviving through centuries of war, crisis, persecution, and economic hardship, the Jesuits have endured because of four core leadership pillars. Chris will share these insights, and more, during his very brief visit to the Philippines.
